Hot air balloons take off over Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs in Claremore for the annual Gatesway Balloon Festival, an event that also includes arts, crafts, helicopter flights, pony rides and more for the family. This annual two-day festival is an area favorite that benefits the Gatesway Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides vocational, residential and adult day services to those with intellectual disabilities. The festival opens at 4 p.m. Friday, and tethered balloon rides begin at 5:30 p.m. Be sure to witness the balloon glow at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, the festival opens up with competition flight and will have areas for children as well as events for adults.
