From livingarts.org: New Genre Arts Festival 2018 will feature sixteen contemporary artworks from local, regional, national and international artists on March 2 and 3 from 5 to 9 p.m. Participating artists will hold a panel discussion on March 3 from 1 to 3 p.m. and artist-led workshops will occur on March 4. The New Genre Artist Engagement Dinner on March 1 at 7 p.m. brings together participating artists and patrons for a creative meal prepared by local chefs within an immersive installation designed by Austin, TX, video artist Bug Davidson. The New Genre Arts Festival showcases local, regional, national, and international performance artists together in order to elevate conversation about performance art and contemporary artistic practice. Viewers will witness a variety of performance art strategies and styles, reflecting the unique history and practice of the medium through a focus on physical expression and transformation of material through time and space. Artists who consider timely issues, subjective experience, new technologies, and social conditions encourage audiences to reimagine personal and collective experience evolving through temporal spatiality.
