The Peggy V. Helmerich Distinguished Author Award is given by the Tulsa Library Trust and Tulsa City-County Library. Its purpose is to give formal recognition to acclaimed authors who have written a distinguished body of work and made a major contribution to the field of literature and letters. Alongside the recognition, the honoree receives a $40,000 cash prize and an engraved crystal book.
The 2023 honoree was New York Times bestselling novelist Amor Towles. He is best known for his three critically acclaimed novels – Rules of Civility, A Gentleman in Moscow, and The Lincoln Highway. They have sold more than 6 million copies and have been translated into more than 30 languages.
