Where would you expect to find William Shatner, the courageous Captain Kirk from Star Trek, Evanna Lynch, quirky witch Luna Lovegood in Harry Potter; and Joey Fatone, member of heartthrob ’90s boy band *NSYNC, all at this very moment? You may be surprised to find these three celebrity icons and plenty more are currently at Tulsa’s Wizard World Comic Con convention.
“Wizard World combines all elements of pop culture – movies, TV, art, science fiction, cosplay, comics, gaming and more – in one place,” says Jerry Milani, spokesman for the convention.
Apart from having the chance to meet some of their favorite stars, guests can dress as their favorite pop culture character and participate in a costume contest, listen to writers and comic book artists like Steve Geiger and Bo Hampton discuss their careers in Q&A panels, and explore a diverse range of stores offering all kinds of collectables. Local artists, writers and fan communities from all around the state will be making appearances as well, adding their own Oklahoma flair to the diverse mix of events.
Milani expects a huge turn out from Oklahoman guests this year and says he is looking forward to how fans will “embrace us and our show, as they have in the past two years.” The Wizard World Convention is taking place all day today and tomorrow at Cox Business Center, and this year promises to be phenomenal pop culture experience.
