What Theatre Pops calls their “most ambitious production ever,” arrives on a Tulsa Performing Arts Center stage this month. Opening August 7 and continuing through August 23, Spamalot, a spoof on the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail, will feature “rude Frenchmen, Can-Can dancers, the Lady of the Lake and her Laker Girls, killer rabbits and catapulting cows,” Theatre Pops says. “These are just some of the adventures and dangers awaiting King Arthur and his knights of the very, very round table in their quest for the Holy Grail.” A winner of three 2005 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Theatre Pop’s production is a can’t miss. The cast includes Richard Rankin as King Arthur and Peter Youtsey as his servant Patsy. His knights include John Burns as Sir Lancelot, Sam Briggs as Sir Robin, Rick Harrelson as Sir Galahad and Gavin Wells as Sir Bedevere. Unable to stay away from the fun, audiences will see cameo appearances by local celebrities, including former Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor, Z 104.5’s Chuck Stikl, comedian Barry Friedman and Chef Michelle Donaldson.
