From Broadway blockbusters to ballet, opera and symphonic performances, Oklahoma’s stages are packed.
At the Tulsa PAC, enjoy Theatre Tulsa’s rendition of Grease (Sept. 10–13), followed by Celebrity Attractions’ Monty Python’s Spamalot (Sept. 15–20). Classical music lovers will want to stay for the Akropolis Reed Quintet (Sept. 20), presented by Chamber Music Tulsa, and Tulsa Symphony’s season-opening performance, Beethoven’s Fourth (Sept. 26). Other stage productions this month include Tulsa Ballet’s Creations in Studio K (Sept. 10–20); Tulsa Opera’s Love on Hold – A Double Bill Featuring The Telephone and At the Statue of Venus (Sept. 19) at the Laven Sowell Opera Center; and Signature Symphony’s New World, New Voices (Sept. 19) at the TCC VanTrease PACE.
Meanwhile, OKC welcomes an array of performances. At Civic Center Music Hall, OKC Broadway kicks off the month with Bluey’s Big Play (Sept. 8–9) before presenting The Sound of Music (Sept. 22–27). Opera fans should catch Painted Sky Opera’s The Pirate Project (Sept. 12). Fans of the classics can head to the Shakespeare Gardens Outdoor Theatre for Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park’s Julius Caesar (Sept. 10–27), or visit Scissortail Park on Sept. 11 for OKC Ballet’s season opener, Ballet Under the Stars. Other highlights include Lyric Theatre’s Come From Away (Sept. 16–Oct. 4) at Lyric at the Plaza, alongside a collaboration between Armstrong Auditorium and the OKC Phil, America the Beautiful: A 250 Celebration, performed Sept. 17 at Armstrong Auditorium and Sept. 19 at the Civic Center Music Hall.
In Stillwater, the McKnight Center presents funk and jazz favorites Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue (Sept. 11), followed by acclaimed vocalist and actor Cynthia Erivo (Sept. 26).
