Fans of film, civic discourse and compelling storytelling should make plans to visit the Greenwood Film Festival, Sept. 6–10 at OSU-Tulsa. The Broken Arrow Rose Festival and the Chalk It Up Arts Festival join forces on Broken Arrow’s Main Street Sept. 11–13. Cultural celebrations abound, including the Tulsa Greek Festival (Sept. 17–19) at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and the final year of Scotfest, held Sept. 18–20 at Broken Arrow Events Park. Other can’t-miss Tulsa events include Autumn in the Botanic Garden, beginning Sept. 18 at Tulsa Botanic Garden; the Tulsa Foundation for Architecture Tours (Sept. 19 and 24), departing from Gunboat Park South and the Tulsa Foundation for Architecture, respectively; and Tulsa Town Hall’s presentation featuring James Stavridis on Sept. 25.
In OKC, hit the water with group kayaking events at Riversport OKC on Sept. 2 and 26. Hear Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame coach Sherri Coale during an OKC Town Hall presentation on Sept. 17. One of the region’s most beloved traditions also returns: the Oklahoma State Fair, Sept. 17–27 at State Fair Park. Other highlights include the Plaza District Festival in the eponymous district on Sept. 26 and Mesta Festa on Sept. 27 at Perle Mesta Park.
Elsewhere, enjoy Rocklahoma (Sept. 3–6) in Pryor; the World’s Largest Calf Fry Festival and Cook-Off (Sept. 12) at the Craig County Fairgrounds in Vinita; and Okeene Germanfest (Sept. 26) at 101 N. Main St. in Okeene.
