Oklahoma weather isn’t to be taken lightly, and reliable heating and cooling are a necessity. Once again, our readers have selected Airco Service in the top spot in The Best of the Best competition in Tulsa. They’ve been around for more than 50 years offering quality Lennox components and renowned service. Also topping the list is DaVco Mechanical Contractors, providing the highest quality service and maintenance for a range of top manufacturers. In second, we have Air Assurance in Broken Arrow, noted for its attention to customer service and wide variety of products. Two businesses share the third spot. Omstead Service has been installing, repairing and maintaining top quality HVAC since 1960, and the Trane Comfort Specialists at Ace Air Inc. will keep your home cozy year round.

In Oklahoma City, readers once again choose Air Comfort Solutions to keep the heat and air running and well maintained through the worst that Mother Nature dishes out. In second place, readers choose York Heating & Air Conditioning, one of the most trusted names in the temperature control business. With more than 60 years under their belt it’s easy to see why Hinton Refrigeration Co. once again makes our list for The Best of the Best in the HVAC business.

Home Builder

Building a home is one of the biggest challenges most can imagine taking on; a job that requires the best builder you can get. Jordan & Sons makes an encore appearance at the top of the Tulsa poll. This team has built some of the most beautiful and luxurious homes in the city. Barron & McClary General Contractors also make a return appearance on our list, and they’re truly one of the most trusted names in town no matter what building project you have in mind. Brumble Construction takes the next spot with quality home construction in some of the southeast metro’s most desirable neighborhoods.

Ideal Homes rises to the top of the list in Oklahoma City. This company has been building quality homes in some of the metro’s hottest developments for more than 20 years – more than 7,000 homes, in fact. Aaron Tatum Custom Homes takes the next spot on the list for their quality custom homes and exacting attention to detail and craftsmanship. Kent Hoffman Construction rounds out our list of noted Oklahoma City builders.

Home Improvement/ Appliance Store

If you’re going DIY this weekend or looking for a new fridge, be sure to go somewhere with the right products and best professional advice. In Tulsa, our readers say that’s The Home Depot. The national retailer definitely has it all under one roof, and their knowledgeable staff can guide your through most projects. From dishwashers to refrigerators, our readers turn to Hahn Appliance Warehouse for the top brands and great prices. Completing the list is Metro Appliances & More, offering one of the largest selections in town and some of the most sought-after brands.

The Home Depot also takes the top spot in Oklahoma City, where the retailer boasts nine metro locations. Another national name, Lowe’s takes the second spot in our survey with top brand appliances and everything you need for your next project. Frigidaire, Maytag, Amana; these are just a few of the brands found at number three winner and longtime OKC favorite, Anthony’s TV & Appliance.

In-Home Theater

Once reserved for the rich and famous, home theaters are becoming more commonplace and more affordable for the everyman. Tulsans tune to Audio Advice for help in bringing the cinema experience home with top of the line audiovisual components and installation. Video Revolution is up next with a custom home theater installation team and top-of-the-line brands such as Sony, Samsung and Mitsubishi. Sharing the next spot are Dynamic Audio, specializing in home theater design and custom integrations, and The Phonograph Electronic Architecture which focuses on all those AV bells and whistles for the modern home.

Audio Dimensions once again tops our list in OKC with the right tools and experience to make your home theater investment one your family will enjoy for years to come. One of the loudest names in sound now has a store in Oklahoma City, earning Bose Factory Store its debut spot at number two on our list. With 12 years in the game, Choctaw-based Castle Home Entertainment earns the third spot on our list for making big screen dreams a reality.

Interior Designer

Paint, fabric, furniture… in the hands of a great interior designer, these are the tools from which works of art are created. Tulsa readers have long recognized Charles Faudree as the best at his craft. The King of Country French has gained international acclaim and even created his own fabric line. SR Hughes known for comfortable and elegant spaces punctuated with sleek modern pieces and global discoveries, shares the second spot with Chris Murphy of Christopher Murphy Designs, who has an innate ability to create rooms that are at once serene, glamorous and colorful. Two preeminent design gurus share the next spot: Doug Campbell of Campbell Design Associates, a master of texture and color, and Rick Phillips, a designer with a way of making minimalism exceedingly livable.

Carson See of Sees Design once again tops our list in Oklahoma City. See’s distinctive designs exude sophistication while seamlessly merging tradition with cutting edge and just a touch of kitsch. Moving up a space in our survey this year is David Stinson of Stinson Design Group, known for
fun and comfortable designs for modern living with a nod to tradition. Finishing our list is the incomparable Jennifer Welch of Jennifer Welch Interior Design, a design rock star who creates elegant rooms with punches of color and whimsy.

Kitchen Designer

Perhaps more than any other room in the house, the kitchen requires expert design and planning, and our readers have their say about who is best. In the No. 1 spot in Tulsa is Wood-Stone Home Design Studio. These Cherry Street experts have been creating custom kitchens for more than twenty years. Showcase Kitchens and Baths fills the second spot, specializing in traditional designs with top name cabinetry and materials. Our readers also recognized Carriage House Design, located in the Farm Shopping Center, for their expertise and dedication to the customer.

Topping our Kitchen Designer list in OKC is a karen black company, which designs each project from the ground up for a kitchen that is as unique as the home and the homeowner. Classic Kitchens is another tried and true favorite for Oklahoma City homeowners; they’ll help you through every step of the design process and they use top quality Wood-Mode cabinetry. Urban Kitchens rounds out the list with a design aesthetic that fits the name – kitchens at home in OKC’s new modern lofts or reclaimed historic spaces.

Landscape Designer

Anyone can plop some plants in the ground, but a landscape designer can integrate them into a residential environment. Clare Ashby ASLA Landscape is at the top of the list among Tulsa voters. In Oklahoma City, our readers suggest Calvert’s Plant Interiors. Yes, they are primarily known for taking care of plants inside the home, but they are also famous for work outdoors as well – especially with containers and small spaces. Second place TLC Florist & Greenhouses is a well known place for plants and flower in OKC, but they can also install outdoor planting or even do a full landscape design. Brassfield Landscaping puts a background in computer-animated design and urban planning to work to design custom landscape environments to fit each home’s unique situation. 

Lawn and Garden Store

Even the greenest thumb needs a little help, and these stores have the goods and the expert advice to help you succeed. With six Tulsa metro locations, Lowe’s tops our reader’s list of the places to go to find quality plants, lawn products and helpful information. Next, Southwood Landscape & Garden Center boasts a five-acre garden center with a 25,000 square-foot greenhouse and full team of experts to offer advice. Finishing our Tulsa list is Sanders Nursery & Distribution Center, with enormous facilities in Broken Arrow and Inola that offer everything you need to make your garden grow.

Oklahoma City readers flock to TLC Florist & Greenhouses. Started in 1980, the business has grown into one of the region’s largest with 150,000 square feet of greenhouse and 10 acres of nursery space. The next spot goes to Calvert’s Plant Interiors, helping OKC homeowners bring beauty to gardens and indoor spaces for more than 30 years. We asked our readers whom to call to get a lawn that will be the envy of the neighborhood. First off, they chose Lawn America, a local, independent company that offers a full menu of options to suit any yard and budget. The next place on the list goes to Spirit Landscape Management in Owasso with expertise to make your lawn look like a putting green. Nationally recoginized TruGreen fills our list with scientifically developed programs to improve the health our your lawn.

Turf Appeal is the company most OKC readers choose to keep their lawns lush and green season after season. Absolute Lawn Management & Landscaping takes the second spot in our poll of companies helping keep OKC lawns green and beautiful. Completing the list, Scotts Lawn Services gives customers lawns that are the talk of the block.

Lighting Store

Lighting is a functional part of any home, but it can be so much more. With more than 40 years in business in Tulsa, Garbe’s once again tops our list with a 48,000 square-feet showroom of lighting options for every room in your home. Broken Arrow lighting emporium Andrews Lighting & Hardware Gallery boasts a large showroom filled with top lighting brands, including Schonbek crystal chandeliers. Next, LifeStyles Lighting, Furniture & Hardware located in Broken Arrow has been serving the lighting needs of Tulsa area homeowners since 2005.

Hunzicker Lighting Gallery started selling lightbulbs in 1920, growing into one of the largest lighting stores in the region and earning the second spot in our OKC poll. Adding a fresh coat of paint is probably the simplest thing you can do to improve your home, but it can have so much effect. In Tulsa our readers head to Elder Paint & Wallpaper to choose the perfect shade from top quality lines by Benjamin Moore. With 10 area locations, nationally trusted brand Sherwin-Williams takes second place with its unparalleled selection of paint and coating options. Manufactured in Tulsa for more than 40 years, Anchor Paints creates a range of products sold nationwide. They share space on our list with Spectrum Paint, a Tulsa-based company that provide locals and customers across the country with quality products form names such as Benjamin Moore and Valspar.

Sherwin-Williams has been making top quality paint since 1866, so it’s understandable why they once again top our list with Oklahoma City readers. Now more than ever, you need a trustworthy real estate firm by your side when buying or selling a home. Topping our list this year is one of Tulsa’s premier independent real estate firms, Walter & Associates. They’ve been one of the city’s most trusted names since 1986. Sharing the next spot are McGraw Realtors, one of Tulsa’s oldest and largest firms with offices throughout the metro, and the nation’s largest real estate company, Keller Williams Realty. Local independent realtors Chinowth & Cohen Realtors also score high with our readers for their six area locations and knowledgeable agents. The nation’s oldest real estate franchise, Coldwell Banker, shares the honor.

Taking the second spot is Oklahoma City’s largest and highest producing independent realty firm, Churchill-Brown, established in 1979. The Covington Company finishes our list. They’ve been specializing in fine homes in Nichols Hills, OKC and Edmond since 1987.

Remodeler

Don’t want to move, but outgrowing your home? It’s time to remodel, and that takes a special type of builder. Powers Design & Build earns the top spot in Tulsa once again, with 35-plus years of dramatic home transformations. Whether you’re upgrading the kitchen or gutting the place, readers also suggest second place Red Dog Construction and Cowen Residential, both well-known for a range of projects. Well-respected Tulsa general contractor David Trebilcock completes our list of the people to call when it’s time to do a little renovation.

Barkocy Construction earns top honors in Oklahoma City for their ability to completely reimagine a home to fit the needs of the owners. Kent Hoffman Construction specializes in building custom homes, but they also excel at remodeling – enough so to earn them the second spot in our survey of the best. Next, Harvest Homes specializes in building projects in Moore and southwest OKC.

Roofer

You may not even notice it, but the roof is so very important to the integrity of your home. If you’re in need of a new one, our readers know whom to call. In Tulsa, they turn to first place A-Best Roofing with more than 20 years experience and expertise in a range of materials, including composite, slate and tile. Also offering a range of products and extensive employee education, Elliott Roofing comes in next. T-Town Roofing, with more than 30 years in business and a special emphasis on metal roofs, shares or list with All American Roofing, who has also been around more than 30 years and offers a range of materials including metal.

National firm ADT Security Services is one of the most trusted names in the security business, earning them a coveted spot on our list. ASG Security is another popular choice for Oklahoma City area residents looking for top-notch alarm systems, monitoring and fire protection.

In Oklahoma, the folks on this list are absolutely essential for a successful real estate transaction. Tulsa readers recommend Guaranty Abstract Company, with 85 years experience, as the best in this category.
