Tomorrow’s rodeo stars are set to compete at the International Finals Youth Rodeo in Shawnee. More than two decades in the making, the IFYR recognizes high school-age cowboys and cowgirls everywhere in competitions held annually at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center, 1700 W. Independence St., in Shawnee. In the past, the rodeo has drawn participants from the U.S., Australia, Brazil and Canada to compete for championship titles and cash prizes in team roping, steer wresting, barrel racing, bull riding and other event categories. The rodeo opens at 8 p.m. Sunday, July 6, and continues through July 11 and the finals showdown. General admission is $10 for each session or $110 for all.
