It looks like Thursday is going to be a big day as Madonna; the queen of pop erupts on the BOK Center stage. Before Beyoncé ran the world, Madonna was the “it girl” of the music industry. Songs such as “Like a Virgin,” “Like a Prayer” and “Vogue” catapulted Madonna’s popularity in the ‘80s and secured her title as the queen of pop. Today, over the span of her more-than-three-decade career, Madonna has stood her ground against predecessors like Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and many more. March 2015, she released her 13th studio album titled Rebel Heart which features production from some of the music industry’s heavy weights like Kanye West, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Diplo and many more. Even with some of hip-hop’s hottest artists backing her album, Madonna maintains her original sound of dance-floor trance; European balladry and 1960s pop classism. In support of Rebel Heart, the global pop star launched her Rebel Heart world tour. Like her album, her world tour has experienced immense success. According to Billboard Magazine, the total sales from the Material Girl’s Rebel Heart tour have now totaled $80 million. Catch Madonna’s Rebel Heart tour when it makes a stop in Tulsa at the BOK Center. Tickets are $40-$355. The show begins at 8 p.m. For more information, visit www.bokcenter.com.
