October’s curtain has risen, and the state’s major metros are packed with performances worth adding to your calendar.
In Tulsa, the Tulsa PAC is the place to be. Things kick off with Ann Hampton Callaway on Oct. 3, followed by Chamber Music Tulsa’s Israeli Chamber Project on Oct. 4. Then, things get spooky with Theatre Tulsa’s The Woman in Black, Oct. 8-11, and TPAC and Pembroke Players’ Anne of Green Gables, running Oct. 8-25. The month keeps rolling with Tulsa Symphony’s Verdi Requiem on Oct. 17 and Tulsa Ballet’s Swan Lake, Oct. 22-25. There’s plenty happening beyond the PAC, too. Tulsa Symphony launches its new Unplugged concert series Oct. 3 at 101 Archer with music by Debussy and Borodin, while the multi-instrumental quartet Invoke takes the stage at the Renaissance Square Event Center on Oct. 16.
Over in OKC, the Civic Center is humming with activity. Catch two OKC Phil showcases — Worlds of Wonder on Oct. 10 and Music to Die For: Songs from the Shadows on Oct. 30-31. Canterbury Voices follows with Symphony of Psalms on Oct. 16, then brings the community together for The Big Sing on Oct. 17. And there’s even more to squeeze onto the calendar: Paint Sky Opera’s A Decade of Divas, Oct. 23-25, and OKC Ballet’s Shorts, Oct. 23-25. To close out the month, head to Edmond for Armstrong Auditorium’s presentation of Sphinx Virtuosi on Oct. 27, celebrating the U.S.A.’s 250th anniversary.
