Rahul Dev Burman, R.D. Burman, was an Indian film score composer and will be celebrated on Friday, May 29 at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. Composing scores for more than 331 movies between the ‘60s and ‘90s, Burman, nicknamed “Pancham,” is a popular name and a missed talent in the industry. Pancham: The Immortal Note, A Tribute to R.D. Burman, presented by the South Asian Performing Arts Foundation, “traces Burman’s life and works through his music and also through audio-visual snippets from his contemporaries, such as Gulzar saab, Javed Akhtar, Shammi Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and modern greats like Shantanu Moitra, Shankar Mahadevan and Vidushal Bharadwaj, to name a few,” says the TulsaPAC website.
