Sept. 8-9 – TCC Van Trease PACE

From signaturesyphony.org: The hot jazz of Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, Bessie Smith, and others take center stage as the Signature Symphony’s limelight shines on the 1920s. In Tulsa, Art Deco was springing up wherever the skyline was not obscured with rushing oil rigs and jazz was truly coming into its own. The season’s first Pops offering pays tribute to some of the greatest music of this classic era of jazz with such hits as “Alexander’s Ragtime Band” and “Sweet Georgia Brown.” As a special treat, this show wraps up with a tour de force treatment of two Louis Armstrong classics, demonstrating the continuing power of the music from the Roaring ’20s.
