Smokey Robinson has a huge musical legacy. The singer, songwriter and producer began his musical journey in the world-famous group The Miracles. The group scored its first big hit with “Shop Around” and developed a fan base with its energetic R&B sound. The pure talent of Robinson was also displayed behind the scenes. Writing hits for his Motown counterparts, like “My Girl” for the Temptations, Robinson gave The Temptations and Motown records their first No. 1 hit. Even today, 50 years later, the song still stands out, ranking among the best songs of all time. As a solo artist, Robinson enjoyed more success following his first two albums, which failed to produce hits. The smooth, soulful sound of the 1979 song “Cruisin” put Robinson back on the on the map and gave him his first performed No. 1 hit on the Billboard charts. In 1981, Robinson topped the charts again with the sensual ballad, “Being with You”, which peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100. After a period of personal and professional turmoil, Robinson made a comeback with his One Heartbeat album. The popular single “Just to See Her” won the singer-songwriter his first Grammy Award in 1988, which accompanied his induction into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. On Nov. 13, the legendary green-eyed singer brings his smooth sound to the WinStar World Casino & Resort. For more information, visit www.winstarworldcasino.com
