Any band featuring a banjo and mandolin at its heart is welcome to Tulsa. As the Yonder Mountain String Band knows, the heart of Western swing beats to more than one kind of rhythm. The band that had its beginnings at Harvard University (the founding members met there) is back on the road with its progressive bluegrass music that melds the very best of folk twang and the rock current. It’s often said that Yonder plays by its own rules, and that approach has gained the band a wildly loyal following. Follow on to Cain’s Ballroom, 423 N. Main St., on Friday, March 21. The Brothers Comatose opens the show at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20-$30 at www.cainsballroom.com.
