Presented by Theatre Tulsa, Miss Saigon tells the love story of an American soldier and a Vietnamese girl, set during the Vietnam War. The musical, by the same creators of Les Miserables, explores the Vietnamese culture of the ‘70s, as well as love, hope, separation and loss. When Chris Scott is enjoying his last days in Vietnam at a Saigon bar and brothel with other U.S. Marines, he meets Kim, the establishment’s new bargirl. Falling in love that night, Chris knows he must soon return to the United States and attempts to find a way to take Kim with him, though he does not, promising he’ll be back for her. While three years pass and Kim remains hopeful of Chris’ return, Chris has started a new life in America with his wife, Ellen. In a series of events that lead Chris and Ellen back to Saigon to find Kim, a heartbreaking ending awaits. Los Angeles-based actress Nicole Barredo will join the Theatre Tulsa cast for the performance. A powerful and emotional piece, parental guidance is encouraged. The production will run through Sept. 20. For more information, visit www.tulsapac.com.
