Woody Guthrie’s Guitar

Woody Guthrie Center
Tulsa

This guitar is one of only two that have been authenticated as belonging to Woody Guthrie. This May Bell guitar was found in the thrift shop in Spokane, Wash. The side was broken, and it had a bird nest in the middle of it. After being purchased for $2, the guitar was restored and authenticated by the late Pete Seeger as being Guthrie’s instrument.
