It’s no secret that today’s R&B holy trinity comprises Trey Songz, Chris Brown and August Alsina. Although these three are in the forefront of R&B music, there are two that the light doesn’t shine so bright on. R&B singers Tank and Ginuwine have been in the music industry for over 20 years, and continue to make captivating music and inspire contemporary R&B. Ginuwine first step into the music industry with “Pony,” which was featured as the theme song for the box office hit Magic Mike 2. The Timbaland produced track showcased Ginuwine’s smooth vocals, which launched the single to No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1996. Since his 1996 release, Ginuwine has went on to release 10 chart-topping albums, and has worked with R&B and hip-hop greats like R. Kelly, Diddy, Missy Elliot, DeVante Swing of Jodeci, Aaliyah and many more. Another singer that Ginuwine has worked with is Tank. Before Tank made it big as a solo artist, he sang background for Ginuwine. He released his debut album Force of Nature which spawned the R&B top ten single “Maybe I Deserve.” After the release of his debut album in 2001, Tank followed up with One Man in 2002. Tank’s third album, Sex, Love & Pain, was released in 2007, and featured the popular ballad “Please Don’t Go.” Later that year, with the addition of R&B singer Tyrese, Tank and Ginuwine collaborated, and formed the group TGT, to perform “Please Don’t Go (The TGT Remix).” They released their first studio album in 2013 Three Kings, which peaked at number three on the U.S. charts. After just one album, the trio announced their split after a conflict involving Tyrese and Ginuwine. Even with the absence of Tyrese, Ginuwine and Tank remain friends and continue to make music and perform together. The two perform at the Riverwind Casino in Norman.
