In Tulsa’s coveted Forest Hills neighborhood, homebuilder Gant Hinkle has created a striking contemporary residence that blends bold design with deeply personal intention.
Built in just under a year, the five-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bath home stands apart from traditional Tulsa architecture, offering a fresh, modern perspective rooted in craftsmanship and lifestyle.

While his first personal build leaned toward broad market appeal, this home was designed with a singular focus: his own family.
“This was extremely customized for us personally,” he says. “I really wanted to make it exactly what I wanted, what my wife wanted and what I felt like our family would utilize and enjoy.”
The result is a home that feels curated and cohesive. Clean-lined stucco and cast stone define the exterior, while inside, a thoughtful mix of materials introduces warmth and texture. Custom cabinetry and paint selections are complemented by rich natural elements, including marble and travertine sourced from Mexico.
A standout feature is the fluted marble fireplace in the living room, a sculptural focal point that anchors the space with understated elegance. Outdoors, sandblasted travertine continues the look and feel, extending seamlessly from the patio to the pool.

That indoor-outdoor connection is central to the home’s design. Upon entry, a dramatic 20-foot-wide, 10-foot-tall sliding glass wall immediately draws the eye through the home to the backyard, creating a sense of openness and continuity.
“It feels like one larger living space,” Hinkle says, noting how natural light and expansive windows were key priorities throughout.
The living room features 12-foot ceilings clad in cypress wood, adding warmth and dimension to the modern aesthetic. A glass- and iron-enclosed lounge offers a more intimate retreat. Outfitted with high-quality AV equipment, it’s one of Hinkle’s favorite spaces – ideal for unwinding with music or hosting friends in a relaxed setting.
All around, the home balances sophistication with family-friendly design. A downstairs playroom, complete with a custom mural wall, reflects careful planning and a desire to incorporate creativity into everyday spaces. Each of the five bedrooms includes its own en suite bath and walk-in closet, reinforcing both comfort and privacy.
But it’s the outdoor living area that truly defines the home’s lifestyle appeal. Inspired in part by a trip to Los Angeles, where Hinkle and his wife admired the use of travertine in residential design, the backyard channels a subtle California vibe.
“We saw this home with beautiful travertine from Turkey,” he says, “and we kind of translated some of it into a different design with that California feel.”
The space includes a fireplace, television and ample seating, along with a sleek dining table imported from Italy. A fully customized outdoor kitchen, featuring a Kamado Joe smoker, grill, power burner, bar and seating, caters to Hinkle’s love of cooking and entertaining.
“It’s a really good home for our family,” he says, “but also for entertaining friends and creating memories.”
With its seamless flow, carefully selected materials and deeply personal design choices, Hinkle’s home is more than a showcase of modern luxury – it’s a reflection of how thoughtful architecture can elevate everyday living.
