Opening Friday, Feb. 1

If you’re not convinced the New Genre Festival has stayed true to its title, Transient Spaces and Temple Hive may persuade you otherwise. Created by Living Arts of Tulsa as a showcase of category-shattering art, the festival celebrates 20 years of fine art, dance, theater, music and video reinterpreted, reconfigured and trespassing across boundaries that might have separated the genres. The two art installations herald the festival, scheduled to begin Feb. 22, with perplexing distortions and methods that certainly will have you thinking many things. Mission: Accomplished. Both Transient Spaces and Temple Hive open for the First Friday Art Crawl in the Brady Arts District. Look for the exhibits at Living Arts, 307 E. Brady St. More about the forthcoming festival can be found at www.livingarts.org.
