The month starts off honoring military veterans with a variety of events. Part of a century-old tradition, the Tulsa Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 11 begins with breakfast and ends with an after-party starting at VFW Post 577. Other events include Veterans Appreciation Day Nov. 6 at the Mannford Museum; the Blanchard Veterans Day Celebration Nov. 13 on Main Street; the Jay Veterans Day Parade on Main Street and the Midwest City Veterans Day Parade at 8700 E. Reno Ave, both on Nov. 11; and the Broken Arrow Elks Lodge Veterans Day Parade in the Rose District on Nov. 6.
David Brooks visits the Tulsa PAC on Nov. 12 for a Tulsa Town Hall event where he will discuss his most recent book, The Second Mountain.
Fans of jazz should visit the UCO Jazz Lab from Nov. 1-6 for the UCO Edmond Jazz Festival, featuring talented students, faculty and renowned musicians. The Fall Festival at the Orr Family Farm continues through Nov. 13 with a maze, hayrides, outdoor attractions and more. OKC Town Hall presents award-winning TV personality and travel expert Samantha Brown on Nov. 18 for a speaking engagement. And the holiday season kicks off the same day in downtown OKC with the Oklahoma City Tree Lighting Festival, which includes performances from a diverse line-up, plus free family-friendly activities and photos with Santa Claus.
Fans of Oklahoma history and movies alike should visit the Will Rogers Motion Picture Festival on Nov. 3-6 at the Will Rogers Memorial Museum in Claremore. The Talihina Fall Foliage Festival on Nov. 6, includes arts and crafts, an art show, live entertainment, multiple food booths and an area dedicated to Choctaw heritage and culture.
