Public opinion of a cappella bands has recently undergone a major change – what was once deemed a niche industry is now sweeping the world as a trendy alternative to run-of-the-mill instrumental bands. A prime example of a cappella talent is the quintet Pentatonix, who will be coming to Chesapeake Energy Area on Nov. 19.

After winning the third season of NBC’s The Sing-Off, the members of Pentatonix have risen to commercial success through their combination of vocal riffing, percussion bass lines and beatboxing with zero band accompaniment.

Among other shows this month at Chesapeake are Oklahoma’s own Carrie Underwood on Nov. 23 and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra on Nov. 27. For details, head to chesapeakearena.com.
