Harry Connick Jr. comes from a city with rich musical history, New Orleans, so it’s only right that the award-winning vocalist let music be the foundation of his artistry. Connick was taught by New Orleans piano legends James Booker and Ellis Marsalis. At the age of 19, his career took off after he signed with Columbia Records and exposed a unique piano technique and musical imagination on his self-titled debut album. The ‘90s threw Connick into acting. Alongside a host of talented actors, he starred in Little Man Tate, Copycat, Hope Floats and many more. The ‘90s also witnessed Connick build on his early musical success with his songwriting skills and as a composer. In the 2000s, he found more success as a multi-talented entertainer, starring as the lead role in the ABC original show South Pacific and expanding to the Broadway stage, where he received Tony Award nominations as composer and lyricist for the musical Thou Shalt Not and The Pajama Game. Connick’s legacy includes three Grammy awards, two Emmy Awards, two Tony Award nominations and sales of 28 million albums with rave reviews.
