The Seattle band brings heavy metal to the Brady Arts District. Alice in Chains rose to fame as one of the emerging groups in the grunge rock era of the ‘90s, along with Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. In 1992, the band released its second album, Dirt, and it became certified triple platinum. The group’s third album, Alice in Chains, was released in 1995 and has been certified double platinum. Both albums peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts. The band received 14 top hits on the Mainstream Rock Charts and nine Grammy Award nominations. But with success came problems. Discord and addiction plagued the group after its ’95 album. A year later, Alice in Chains reconvened for its first public performance in three years to record MTV Plugged. New material in 1999 produced the release of Music Bank. Alice in Chains is set to pen its biography later this year. The group is also scheduled to perform for a second Oklahoma audience on Saturday, Aug. 1 at WinStar World Casino. For more information, visit www.bradytheater.com or www.winstarworldcasino.com
