Tulsa’s hip Brady District is certainly not short on hangouts. But what Valkyrie brings to the mix is refinement, a touch of sophistication among dive bars and beer specials. A chalkboard menu meets visitors to the establishment, proclaiming a healthy list of drink options, both spirits and beer. “The motivation behind Valkyrie was to open a regular bar with great drinks,” says co-owner Tony LesDernier. “We wanted to open the bar that we would hang out in – classic cocktails, craft beer, boutique wine – but to do it without it being too stuffy.” Classics like the Brazilian-born Caipirinha meet up with Mai Tais and the Pegu Club – a mix of gin, Cointreau and lime.
