Opens Friday, Nov. 29

Yes, Third Street between Denver and Cheyenne avenues will be closed for more than a month again, but Arvest Winterfest makes the inconvenience of driving an entire street up and over entirely worth it. The annual downtown Tulsa festival opens at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, with ice skating until 11 p.m. Live entertainment and horse and carriage rides begin at 6 p.m. While the BOK Center and its grounds will be illuminated in the glow of millions of tiny lights, the big bonanza doesn’t happen until 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, when Oklahoma’s largest Christmas tree lights up. Concessions will have hot snacks and beverages to warm the inside, as if the sight alone weren’t enough. Admission to Winterfest is free. Access to the skate rink is $5 if you bring your own skates or $10 with skate rental. Visit www.tulsawinterfest.com or www.bokcenter.com to see a schedule of activities, music schedule and more. Winterfest runs through Jan. 5.
