The Rifftime on Route 66 Linear Music Festival took to The Mother Road this past weekend beginning a 16-day festival that’s about to hit Oklahoma in a big way. From Santa Monica, Calif., to Chicago, some of the country’s most swinging, western- and jazz-inspired bands have been playing hot spots along Route 66 in a mass celebration of Americana musical invention.
In July, Oklahoma Magazine’s “The Insider” columnist John Wooley introduced us to festival organizer Bruce Forman of West Coast-based fiddle-boogie band Cow Bop (www.okmag.com/2014/06/25/festival-on-wheels/). Forman explained the concept that led to this event bringing music lovers from all over the globe together through live events and live streaming media.
