Surrounded by artists as a child, Penix was sure to take up the paintbrush professionally as an adult. “As an artist I gain inspiration from my environment, whether that be at the park, at home or traveling abroad. I enjoy the freedom to paint different subject matter and I’ve learned to push myself to try new things, even if they are out of my comfort zone,” he says. Penix paints with oils in an impressionistic style, and that skill has brought him attention all over the country. His works are exhibited in galleries in California, Michigan, New Mexico and Colorado.
